It's late winter ...
The weather is touch and go at best, the trees are stubbornly coveting their buds (at least for a little longer) and the sky only seems to flirt with fifty shades of grey.
Although it is can be miserable these few weeks before Spring transforms the scene, a chilly commute can be pleasantly bracing - but what if you work from home? Or pride yourself on busy weekends, only to struggle with motivation when Saturday arrives?
It can be typically difficult to keep energy and spirits high at this limbo time of year, particularly at home... where it's very easy for some (read - me) to bunker down instead of perking up.
Fortunately, we've collected some very clever tips and tricks for lifting the mood, and it's all down to dressing your environment ~
1. Aroma~ Therapy
Introducing invigorating or summery scents into your space (or routine) can help keep your mood lifted and mind focused.
2. Colour Charging
From revitalising brights to nourishing, earthy tones, colour theory proves the impact of colour on our state of mind. Find what works for you (are you a fresh, zingy person or does leaning into calmer winter tones revive you?) and embrace colour!
P A I G E - one of our beautiful Reside Living woven blankets - is a soft cinnamon in colour and can definitely help with the latter.
3. The Little Things
It's all in the details ~
Late winter offers some stunning beauty (sunsets from the sofa, anyone?) if we look close enough ... and take the time ... to see it. We can introduce more with small, pick-me-up accessories in our space.
Keeping neutral accessories all year round and adding in seasonal delights can work wonders - our M A X pots are the perfect neutral, textured foundation.
4. Light Tricks
Lighting: it can make or break a mood.
At Reside, we know how powerful light is. Pay special attention to uplighting, tone of light (wide-awake cold vs winding-down warm, for example) and where you can introduce impactful bursts of light in your space.
Metallics can really emphasize this effect, and our T H A N D I E sunburst mirror is one of the best for that revitalising dose.
5. That Fresh-Air Fix
Whether you're green-fingered or more pedies-on-the-patio (or both ~), getting out into the garden in the day, even just for fifteen minutes, can dramatically change your mood and energy levels - particularly when working from home.
The different sensations cause a change in our nervous system, posture and perspective.
A very quick and effective pick-me-up for when your battery levels are flagging, or even if you're suffering from any brain fog.
